HAPPY NATIONAL NAPPING DAY
Ah, the nap! The nap is the favourite part of my day, next to actually going to bed at night. I can’t help it! Sleeping in my bed is like sleeping on a soft cloud, cocooned by a plethora of pillows. Not to mention, if there was a sleeping event in the Olympics, I really would win!
I usually hit the 2 o’clock wall, at which time coffee is a requirement to continue living in a productive and pleasant manner. However, if given the opportunity to nap, I’d take it. Today is the day I will observe the nap to my full capacity as it is National Napping Day.
So, what is National Napping Day? According to National Day Calendar, it is “celebrated annually the day following the return of daylight savings time…provides everyone with the opportunity to have a nap and catch up on the hour of sleep that they lost” (National Napping Day, 2015). Makes total sense! My Daylight Savings Time eve had me going to bed at my usual midnight, but in reality, turned out it was 1am. The next morning, I missed my noon gym class due to the Missy body clock saying it was only 11am.
As much sense as National Napping Day makes, I plan on partaking in the day multiple times throughout the year. The nap has multiple benefits, including improved alertness should you be hitting that 2 o’clock wall. It’s definitely healthier than pumping your body full of caffeine.
Whether or not you have the ability to partake in the greatest pastime of the siesta, I hope you make it through the day. I know I’ll be thinking of you in my nap dreams, wishing you all the best!
